Nylon + carbon fibre print settings
Nylon with chopped carbon fibre: stiffer, far more dimensionally stable, and it destroys brass nozzles.
Abrasive — hardened nozzle required
Nozzle 250–280 °C
Bed 70–90 °C
Part cooling 0–20 %
Enclosure Required
Drying 70 °C for 12 h
Shrinkage ~0.5% — the fibre holds it far straighter than plain nylon
Density 1.18 g/cm³
Enclosure: Expect warping, splitting layers or failed prints without one.
Bed surface & adhesion
Garolite or PEI with glue, as plain nylon.
Retraction starting points
Direct drive 0.5–2 mm
Bowden 3–6 mm
Retraction speed 25–45 mm/s
Dry the filament first — with these, stringing is far more often moisture than retraction, and no retraction value fixes a wet spool.
Good for
Stiff structural parts — drone frames, tool mounts, machine brackets Nylon parts that need to hold their dimensions
Watch out for
Abrasive — hardened steel or ruby nozzle required; brass wears out in hours Use a 0.6 mm nozzle or larger; fibre bridges and clogs 0.4 mm Stiffer but more brittle than unfilled nylon — rigidity traded for toughness
